SINGLETON NORTH SUB-STATION

Project Value: $3.2 Million

This project was the civil works and building works for a new substation at Singleton Heights for Energy Australia. The site was located in an area which was highlighted by the Customer as being very sensitive environmentally as severe erosion of the surrounding area had recently been rehabilitated by the local community. The project was also adjacent to a local aboriginal site.

As part of the bulk excavation large vegetation mounds were constructed around the perimeter of the site to shield the view from the local residents. These vegetation mounds were subsequently landscaped with over 23,000 plants and a new irrigation system installed.

The works also consisted on the installation of services including 3200metres of conduits, sewer connection including under road boring, water main and fire service main.

The building consisted of a concrete slab on timber piling. A structural steel framework supported colourbond roofing and textured blockwork walls. Part of the slab required a special finish with tolerances of 1mm to ensure that the ClientÕs electronic equipment functioned correctly.

Works included;

  • Bulk Earthworks
  • Stromwater and sub-soil drainage.
  • Installation of services including water, sewer, fire hydrants and electrical telecommunication conduits
  • Road base and sub-base
  • Asphaltic concrete
  • Concrete slab road for transformer slabs and other concrete footings for substation structures
